I so love WordCamp’s in general. The sprite is great and you always meet great people. In some way I hate that I don’t live in the states. They got so many WordCamp’s and all of them are in English.
And that is precise what I hate about the WordCamps in Europe. Some of them do got English speakers but a lot of them still are country orientated. So if I want to go for example to a Spanish WordCamp I need to know Spanish. I do know some words but I am sure they lost me after two sentences.
In my opinion they should be more international orientated so more people can visit them. Most of the time the got multiple tracks, so if one of them is in english than you have it both ways. At least WordCamp.org should note which language will be spoken.
WordCamp Europe
Couple of days ago I talked with someone and we talked about this. At one point I was joking about a WordCamp Europe. A WordCamp that would go from country to country with only English talks. And has the same level like WordCamp San Francisco. Something like that is missing here completely.
I was this year in San Francisco and I was not the only crazy person who traveled from Europe to visit the WordCamp. Not only for WordCamp of course. Most likely also to make a little holiday of it and have a great time.
WordCamp isn’t only about WordPress
Maybe this is my opinion but I see WordCamps to social interact with other people. Of course talk about WordPress a lot but also about other things. I love to visit WordCamps in every country. And also to learn something about the city and culture of that region/country. That is one of the reasons I would love that there would be a WordCamp Europe and one that isn’t always in the same city/country.
Conclusion
Maybe this is just my vision of WordCamps in Europe. I would love to hear some feedback about if you would like to see a WordCamp Europe. And how you look to it.
