A few days ago I decided to contribute 20 hours per week of my time to WordPress and related projects. I did this also for 3.5 and it was a great experience by developing the new image manipulation logic with Mike Schroder. I also fixed some XML-RPC issues and other random things.
It’s already special when you able to do this because it’s just awesome to do. It’s even more special when it’s your own time. The reason I decided this huge step is because it is a good thing to do and I want to fix the things that are wrong in my point of view.
In the next couple of weeks I will working on making GlotPress better. Currently the code for saving needs a rewrite so no empty translations are allowed any more. Also on importing we can do a lot of things like finding the same string and check if there is an translation for that. So if you find a grammar mistake in the current release of WordPress that it also see if it can be fixed for older releases.
Also in the next couple of weeks I will be blogging about how I look at where WordPress stands right now. I think we doing a really good job in a lots of different things but we do some things also wrong. The reason I do this is to open a discussion about some of the stuff we do. Like I think we can and should be more open and hopefully I can do this in a way that people don’t get offended.
